Posted On: April 28, 2009 11:30:02 PM Name: Alice Dunne (nee Kinsella) Message: My memories are few of Clogga school as I spent only a few junior years there prior to it closing. I recall the green painted timber on the walls of the classroom. Playing and skipping in the playground. Names such as Dunphies, Coadys, Quilties, Crowleys, Walshes were school mates of mine. Regards, Alice.

Posted On: April 28, 2009 10:53:47 PM Name: Catherine Kinsella, Knockhouse Message: Loverly to browse the website. I can remember my first day in Clogga school being greeted by Mr. Denis Doherty, I was accompanied by Marie Kearns, Barronswood. Mrs. Mulqueen was the teacher who prepared us for Communion and took us to Kilinaspic Church for practice and our big treat was going to Malones shop for sweets. Sitting Primary Cert. in Mooncoin. Collecting the pennies for the black babies. Being dressed up in our best clothes for our religious examination and getting a half day after it. Regards to all who remember me. Catherine |
Posted On: April 28, 2009 09:52:49 PM Name: Stella Butler (nee Kinsella) Message: Delighted with website. It has brought back some school memories to me. I am in the photo of 1963-64. I remember my first day and the day I finished, the year the school closed. I well remember our bottles of tea and cocoa being heated around the stove in the class room. The preparations for the visit of Dr. Collier and trodding to confessions in Kilinaspic Church and walking to school through the fields are still clear. Regards, Stella

Posted On: March 15, 2009 12:22:48 AM Name: Tony O'Shea Message: Thank you so much for helping me trace another piece of my family history. I knew from Griffith's valuation that my ancestor Patrick Dunphy was living in Clogga in 1850. The 1821 Census information on your site has meant that I've found Pat's entire family, including his father James, aged 70 in 1821. This means he was born around 1751 and this is the furthest I've ever been able to trace any part of my family. It was also a real treat to see the school and sports photos and know that every one of those Dunphy's is a distant relative of mine. Thanks again - your site is a great achievement. Tony |
