Comments: My grandmother told me that her father and his parents came from a place that sounded like Timpuh, Merionethshire, North Wales. The family story is that they were headed for Patagonia, but disliked traveling by sea, and when their ship docked in NYC, they disembarked. They came to upstate New York to join a large Welsh population already living in the Cazenovia/Nelson area. The name of my great-grandfather was John R. Jones or R. John Jones. His mother was named Grace Ellis. He was born in Wales around 1856 or 1860. I have no idea where to start to look for my Welsh ancestors. Can anyone help?
